Pinta still floats

We’ve just launched Pinta and she still floats after more than 2 years since she actually went anywhere near water. The launch seemed to attract a fair amount of attention from some of the locals but some of them turned out to be local coast guard and lifeboat crew which is useful. The last thing we want to happen is for anyone to think that Pinta is a manned vessel who’s lost her crew and for that to start a search for survivors (especially if that gets helicopters called out since they cost a lot more to run than a lifeboat). So it helps if all the local lifeboat crew know what Pinta looks like. The coastguard have given us their email address and told us to let them know when its launched.

We also met up with a colleague from University College Dublin who are also interested in sailing robots and currently have converted two dinghy’s and a small model boat. Unfortunately they’ve broken some of their hardware and weren’t able to bring the boat (that sounds familiar from somewhere!).
